4 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Day 1: Marrakech ➝ High Atlas Mountains ➝ Ait Ben Haddou ➝ Ouarzazate

Depart Marrakech early in the morning and drive through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters) with panoramic mountain views.

Stop at the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most photographed landmarks, featured in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore the ancient alleys and enjoy the unique architecture.

Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” and visit the Taourirt Kasbah or film studios (optional).

Day 2: Ouarzazate ➝ Dades Valley ➝ Todra Gorge ➝ Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, drive through the scenic Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses, known for its beautiful kasbahs and rose fields (especially in spring).

Continue to the Dades Valley, famous for its dramatic rock formations and winding roads, and then proceed to the Todra Gorge, a spectacular canyon perfect for walking and photography.

In the afternoon, head to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Enjoy a sunset camel trek across the towering Erg Chebbi dunes, then arrive at your desert camp.

Spend the evening enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber music, and stargazing under the vast desert sky.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert ➝ Rissani ➝ Erfoud ➝ Midelt

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast, ride your camels back to Merzouga.

Depart for Rissani, an old caravan town with a lively market, and continue through Erfoud, known for its fossil fields. Then travel through the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and Berber villages.

Continue your journey toward Midelt, located in the Middle Atlas Mountains, enjoying scenic landscapes along the way.

Day 4: Midelt ➝ Ifrane ➝ Cedar Forests ➝ Marrakech

After breakfast, depart for Marrakech through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and visit the nearby cedar forests to see the Barbary macaque monkeys.

Continue through the scenic mountain roads back to Marrakech, arriving by the evening. Your 4-day desert adventure concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation.
